Our Current School Board Members
Mrs. Jodie Gonzales, Board Vice President
My family and I have been with Cornerstone Christian Academy since the 2005-2006 school year. I have been serving on the board for most of those years. I enjoy being able to give my time for the betterment of the school and the students. Giving a voice in helping to train, lead, and educate the children of our school is a blessing and an honor that I cherish and take very seriously. I pray God will continue to lead us, guide us and grow all of us for His glory.
Mr. Steve Gonzales, Board President
Mrs. Debbie Person, Board Member
Having had the opportunity and blessing to home-school our daughter, CCA has been an important resource of support in our decision which we made several years ago. Now, I have the privilege in serving our parents, both old and new, as a Board member. I've been blessed to watch many of our parents' children grow up to be strong young men and women of God.
Mr. Roy Person, Board Secretary
My wife Debbie and I have been part of Cornerstone Christian Academy since its beginning in 1998. Over the years we have seen God work at establishing and building this school. It has served as a resource for parents who have been led by God to train up and educate their children at home. The families that have come and gone, and those that are with us today have been an important part of our family. It has truly been a blessing and a privilege to serve this school, its parents, and their children. It is my prayer that God continues to pour out His blessings on this school.
The School Advisory Board
The school operates under the guidance of a board that is dedicated to serving God and the families of CCA. Currently, the board regularly meets on the third Thursday of every other month at 6:30 P.M. The July board meeting is its annual re-organizational meeting. Families are encouraged to attend these meetings. Contact the school for location of the board meetings. Please remember to pray for the Board and ask for God’s sovereign grace and direction. If there is an agenda item that you would like the board to consider, please contact the school principal. All agenda items must be submitted to the principal by the 15th of each month to be placed on the next board agenda. If the 15th falls on a weekend, agenda items will be extended to the following Monday.
Things You Need To Know
- The School Board is in need of filling a board member seat that is currently vacant. If you are desirous of serving in Christian ministry, there is no higher calling than serving parents and their children. Board positions are for a minimum of two years and an attendance commitment of six meetings a year. If you feel God is calling you to this type of ministry, please contact the school principal at (760) 524-6958 for more information.
- At its July 2012 meeting the Board approved increasing all new Record Keeping Families' (Only) tuition from $100.00 to $150.00 a year or $15.00 a month. Then beginning July 1, 2013 all Record Keeping families' tuition will increase to $150.00 a year or $15.00 a month.
- At its July, 2012 meeting the Board approved to increase late fees from $15.00 to $20.00 per occurrence, per month. This includes late tuition, monthly/yearly attendance sheets, report cards, as well as unexcused absences/lateness for mandatory meetings and Friday Enrichment classes. As always, incidents of absences/lateness will be evaluated on a case by case basis. For example, a parent being late to enrichment or a mandatory meeting because of car trouble would be a legitimate excuse. Planning a doctor's appointment on a school approve event, may not be excused.
- Parent Orientation meeting has been scheduled for Aug. 9, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments and socializing will begin at 6:00 p.m.
